My online violin lessons are live, personalized, and designed around your experience, goals, and pace. You don't have to live near a music school or travel to a studio—you can learn violin from the comfort of your own home.

Learning an instrument is about much more than simply playing the right notes.
During our one-on-one online violin lessons, I work directly with you to develop the skills you need to become a confident and independent musician.
I'll watch and listen to your playing, demonstrate techniques and exercises, answer your questions, and give you specific feedback throughout the lesson.
Because every student is different, I don't believe in using exactly the same approach for everyone. Your lessons will be adapted to your current ability, your musical interests, and what you want to accomplish with the violin.
Whether your goal is simply to enjoy playing music, learn your favorite songs, develop your technique, prepare for an audition, or become a more accomplished violinist, we'll create a learning path that works for you.
How My Online Violin Lessons Work
You don't need to travel to a music studio to receive personalized violin instruction. Our lessons take place live through video, allowing us to see and hear each other while we work together.
1. We Connect Online
At your scheduled lesson time, we'll meet through live video from wherever you are.
2. We Work on Your Goals
We'll work on material appropriate for your level and your musical interests, whether you're learning your very first notes or developing more advanced skills.
3. You Play, I Give You Feedback
I'll observe your posture, bowing, left-hand technique, rhythm, intonation, and musical expression as you play and help you make adjustments.
4. You Practice Between Lessons
You'll have specific exercises, music, and skills to work on between lessons so that you can continue making progress.
See What an Actual Violin Lesson Looks Like
In this sample beginner lesson, you'll see how I work with two students on learning the parts of the violin and bow, proper finger placement for the bow hand, rhythm, open-string names, note values, and a simple piece.
This lesson also demonstrates how I use exercises and visual materials to make fundamental musical concepts easier to understand.
This is an example of the type of activities and instruction that can take place during a beginner violin lesson. Each student's lessons are personalized to their individual needs and level.

Intermediate Students
If you already have violin experience, lessons can focus on developing stronger technique, improving intonation and bow control, learning new repertoire, strengthening sight reading, and becoming a more expressive musician.
Returning Violinists
Did you play violin years ago and want to start again?
You may remember more than you think. We'll assess where you are now, identify areas that need attention, and gradually rebuild your technique and confidence. You don't necessarily have to start from the beginning.
Complete Beginners
Have you never played the violin before?
That's completely fine. We'll start with the fundamentals and gradually build your technique, musical understanding, and confidence. You'll learn how to hold the violin and bow, produce a good sound, understand rhythm and music notation, and eventually begin playing complete pieces.
Adult Violin Students
It's never too late to learn violin.
Whether you've always wanted to play, have recently discovered an interest in classical music, or are finally making time for a musical goal you've had for years, lessons can be adapted to your schedule and experience.
You don't have to become a professional musician to enjoy learning violin. My goal is to help you make meaningful progress while enjoying the process.
Children & Young Students
Young students can develop a strong musical foundation through structured, encouraging violin lessons.

Questions & Answers
What materials do I need?
You will need a violin, a music stand, and access to a computer or tablet. If you are a beginner, please speak with me about violin sizes before purchasing a violin. Getting the right size violin is very important so as to avoid discomfort and pain, among other things.
What music books do you use?
The music books I use are the Suzuki Method violin books (I will indicate which one you need to purchase), other traditional method resources (I will share with you as needed or indicate what to purchase), and I will customize what we work on for you.
Do parents need to be involved if a young student is taking lessons?
Yes. For beginner students who are children, parents can play a crucial role in helping the child to succeed. Especially with young children (up to about age 8...depends on the child's level of independence), active parent involvement in each lesson and throughout the week is important. I believe in equipping the parent with tools for helping the child to develop a love for music along with effective and consistent practice habits.
How can learning an instrument like the violin benefit a student?
Learning to play the violin (correctly) has the ability to help develop important life skills in the student, like: perseverance, consistency, awareness of one's own body and feelings, etc. There are many other major benefits, but these are just a few.
How do online lessons work?
Online lessons are conducted via video calls, allowing for real-time feedback and interaction. A good internet connection and a proper setup are needed. Please speak with me about how to set up your camera and music stand for optimal lessons.
We are currently offering online violin lessons. In-person lessons are available at select times of the year in Silver Spring, Maryland.
